What did the contestants learn from the Survival Challenge and what does it teach us about our relationship with nature?

The Wilderness Living Challenge is a popular YouTube series that tests the limits of human resilience and survival skills. In Season 2, an even more intense challenge was undertaken – eating only wild foods for five days. This grueling challenge, aptly named the Survival Challenge, pushed the contestants to the very limit of their physical and mental capabilities.

The challenge was simple – the contestants had to survive on the wild foods available to them in the British Columbian wilderness. This meant no pre-packaged food, no hunting, and no help from the outside world. The contestants were left with only their own wits and knowledge of foraging to sustain themselves.

The first day of the challenge proved to be the easiest for the contestants as they were able to find a good amount of edible mushrooms and plant roots. However, things quickly became difficult as they moved into the second day of the challenge. The contestants were faced with heavy rains and strong winds, making it difficult to find any form of food. The third day was not any easier, as the cold and damp conditions took a toll on the contestants’ morale and physical wellbeing.

Despite the difficulties, the contestants found ways to survive by foraging for nuts, berries, and wild greens. They also took advantage of an unexpected visit from a game warden, who showed them how to trap fish using only natural materials.

The Survival Challenge proved to be a true test of survival skills, with the contestants having to rely on their resourcefulness and skills to stay alive. The challenge demonstrated how much we have come to rely on modern conveniences, and how disconnected we have become from nature.

In the end, the contestants emerged from the challenge stronger and more knowledgeable about the wild foods available to them in the wilderness. They also gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the delicate balance between humans and nature.

The Wilderness Living Challenge 2017 Season 2 was not just about survival, but also about pushing the limits of human endurance and testing the boundaries of personal resilience. It was a reminder that there is much to learn from our natural environment, and that the best way to overcome adversity is through a deep connection with nature.
