EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

Interview and portrait of Tiye, a former spa worker from North Carolina.

Ex-Spa Worker Interview: Tiye

Tiye is a former spa worker who worked in a prominent spa in New York City for several years. In this interview, Tiye talks about her experiences working in the spa industry and what she learned from her time there.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you became interested in working in the spa industry?

Tiye: Sure. Growing up, I had always been interested in beauty and wellness. I used to spend a lot of time researching different skincare routines and DIY beauty treatments. When I was in college, I started working at a spa part-time to pay my bills. And that’s where my interest in the spa industry truly grew. I loved the atmosphere, the sense of calm and relaxation, and of course, the opportunity to learn more about the latest beauty trends and treatments.

Q: What kind of work did you do at the spa?

Tiye: I worked as a spa attendant and later as a therapist. As an attendant, my job was to provide basic customer service to spa guests, such as showing them around the facilities, answering their questions, and ensuring that they had everything they needed. As a therapist, I provided various treatments such as facials, massages, and body wraps.

Q: What was a typical day like for you at the spa?

Tiye: A typical day at the spa started with setting up my treatment room and preparing any necessary products and equipment. Then, I would go through a brief consultation with the client to understand their needs and tailor their treatment accordingly. After the treatment, I would clean and sanitize the room, restock supplies and products, and prepare for my next client.

Q: What did you enjoy most about your job?

Tiye: I loved making people feel good, especially when they would come in stressed or tired and leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. It was a satisfying feeling to know that I had played a part in helping someone take care of themselves.

Q: Were there any challenges you faced while working in the spa industry?

Tiye: One of the main challenges was dealing with difficult clients. Sometimes, clients would have unrealistic expectations or be rude and demanding, which could be challenging to deal with. As a therapist, I had to remain professional and polite while still providing top-quality service. Another challenge was staying up to date with the latest beauty trends and treatments, as the industry is constantly evolving.

Q: What did you learn from your experience working in the spa industry?

Tiye: I learned a lot about customer service and how to connect with people on a deeper level. It was important to understand what each client wanted and needed from their treatment and how to communicate effectively with them. I also learned the importance of self-care and how to take care of myself both physically and mentally.

Q: Would you recommend working in the spa industry to others?

Tiye: Yes, I would definitely recommend it to others who are interested in beauty, wellness, and customer service. It’s a great industry to work in if you enjoy working with people and want to help them take care of themselves. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for growth and development within the industry.

In conclusion, Tiye’s experience working in the spa industry has provided her with valuable skills in customer service, communication, and self-care. Her passion for people and wellness made her a successful therapist and enabled her to connect with clients on a deeper level. The spa industry is a rewarding career choice for those interested in beauty, wellness, and customer service.
