Milan Fashion Week – Fall/Winter 2019
How did Marni present their designs in an unconventional way at the event?
Milan Fashion Week is one of the most highly-anticipated events in the fashion industry, and the Fall/Winter 2019 edition did not disappoint. Held from February 20th to 25th, the event showcased a stunning array of innovative and cutting-edge fashion, as well as showcasing the latest trends and designs from some of the industry’s most renowned fashion houses.
With fashion being one of Milan’s main attractions, the city was abuzz with excitement as thousands of fashion aficionados from all over the world gathered to witness and experience the latest in fashion. While the iconic Italian brands such as Gucci, Armani and Prada were expected to showcase their signature styles, lesser-known brands and newcomers also managed to capture the attention of the audience.
One of the standout highlights of the event was showcased by Bottega Veneta, whose designs were a refreshing mix of bold and subdued colours. The brand included fringed dresses and coats that showcased a playful edge, while draped skirts and trousers offered a subtle and understated elegance. The signature intrecciato leather was explored on bags of all shapes and sizes, adding a touch of glamour to every outfit.
Another memorable presentation came from Fendi, who for the first time during Milan Fashion Week, presented a tribute collection to the recently deceased Karl Lagerfeld, who had collaborated with the brand for over 50 years. The collection celebrated Lagerfeld’s exquisite vision, with models strutting down the catwalk in iridescent furs, textured leathers, and graphic prints. The designer’s legendary fur work was also prominent, with standout pieces including a wool coat with a detachable fur collar and cuffs.
Also stealing the show was Marni, who presented a collection that featured kaleidoscopic print combinations, oversized silhouettes, and unconventional layering. Vibrant colours and bold prints dominated the runway, with unexpected pairings of clashing prints and textures adding a touch of dynamic visual interest to each piece. The brand also introduced an innovative way of presenting their designs by using sculptural installations at their show, creating a more interactive and immersive experience for attendees.
Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019 was a resounding success, a testament to the talent, creativity and innovation of the fashion industry’s stalwarts and young designers alike. It was a captivating and inspiring event that offered up a diverse array of styles, colours, textures and silhouettes. Fashion enthusiasts left the event abuzz with excitement and anticipation, eagerly awaiting the next edition of this prestigious event.
