Lastly, add a layer of charcoal on top of the sand. Charcoal acts as an effective natural filter and removes impurities from the water. Repeat the process and add a layer of sand, gravel, and cotton until the bottle is full – make sure that the final layer is cotton. After putting all the layers appropriately, washing the filter with clean water for some time is necessary to get rid of possible dust and impurities derived from items used.

This filter can be used to filter water obtained from natural resources like springs, lakes, creeks and it is essential to replace the filter once in a while.
