I spent a week in darkness, here’s what I saw

A week in darkness.
On December 31st 2019 at 11:59pm – we put a guy in a pitch black room for 155 hours.
Were there any challenges you faced during the experiment? If so, how did you overcome them?
I Spent a Week in Darkness: Here’s What I Saw
A week without light might seem daunting for most of us, but it is an eye-opening experience. Recently, I decided to challenge myself to spend one week without any light, and the results were profound.
For the entirety of the experiment, I removed any source of light from my room, including any electrical devices that could produce light. I stayed away from any windows or rooms with natural light, avoiding even the faintest hint of brightness. The result was complete darkness, and it felt like a new world.
The first few days were strongly disconcerting, and I found myself stumbling around, unsure of where I was going, and what I was doing. The unease persisted in the waking and the sleeping hours, causing me mild anxiety. However, as time passed, my other senses started to heighten, and I grew more in tune with the environment around me.
The air in the room changed its qualities after a while, and I realized how often I took the freshness and ambiance of my surroundings for granted. The night sounds of insects outside my window became more soothing, and I began to identify familiar patterns of nature each night. With my eyes useless, my ears, nose, and touch became more sensitive, and the passing breeze, vibrations of footsteps, or the sound of things being moved around, became vivid in the absence of the visual stimuli.
The highlights of the week were the dreams that I experienced. It seemed like a gateway to another level of consciousness as my mind was free to roam about the landscape without the influence of visual cues. The imagery that my subconscious presented seemed more vivid and almost tangible, and traveling in a dream became an exhilarating experience. I found I could gain more control over my unconsciousness as it was free to explore new territory.
While the experiment admittedly had its moments, it was a noteworthy challenge, and its benefits were equally impressive. It offered a new perspective that allowed me to appreciate the senses often disregarded in our society. It granted me access to the nuances of the environment that could only be correctly perceived without the interference of any exterior signals, and it was a liberating experience.
In conclusion, the period of darkness was an enlightening and unusual event, highlighting our human tendency to rely too heavily on vision. This experiment signaled newfound understanding in the quest to explore and to develop new consciousness, unshrouded from the distractions of a media-saturated world. Being blind-folded by our fears diminishes us, but challenging ourselves from time to time leads to discovery and growth.
