It was time to up the production on Pro Home Cooks, so I’ve busted out of my apartment and got myself an official kitchen studio.

The only issue is, I first have to build the entire thing myself! Well, I wouldn’t call it much of an issue, since building was my first passion before I found the wonderful world of cooking.

How did the author go about drawing up plans for the desk?

The trend towards standing desks has soared in recent years. However, finding the perfect standing desk that meets all your requirements can be a challenging process. This was precisely the case for me.

So, I decided to build my own standing desk, and it turned out to be quite an epic experience. The project was a culmination of my passion for woodworking and my unyielding desire to have the perfect standing desk.

The first step was to identify what I needed in a standing desk. I deduced that a custom-built sitting-to-standing desk, which could accommodate my 6 feet height and provide ample space for storage, would suit me best. I also wanted a desk that was aesthetically pleasing, unique and ergonomic.

The next step was drawing up the plans. This was a crucial step, and taking my time to ensure the necessary precision in my measurements was vital. I also included features, such as a built-in footrest, cable management and adjustable shelves. Once I had my plans, I gathered all the necessary tools and materials, including wooden planks, saws, screws, sandpaper, and finishes.

The process of building the standing desk took around three weeks. It was a challenging, yet rewarding process. I had to make several adjustments along the build, ensuring that everything was in line with my design. Being my first major project, it tested my limits and forced me to learn new skills. Finally, the desk was complete and ready for use.

The completed desk surpassed all of my expectations. It was a unique piece of furniture that not only looked great, but also met all of my needs. The adjustable shelves were perfect for holding my computer monitor, while the built-in footrest allowed me to rest my feet while standing. The cable management system kept all cables neat and tidy, eliminating any clutter. I was amazed at how comfortable and convenient it was to stand for long periods of time without any discomfort.

In conclusion, building my standing desk was a fulfilling experience. It allowed me to channel my creativity and craftsmanship into something that I could use and cherish for years to come. It was a challenging process that paid off in full. The lessons I learned during the build process taught me that if you are willing to put in the necessary effort, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
